If you are one of the folk who cannot envisage a January ‘detox’ then don’t do it. A higher percentage of those attempting drastic weight loss and fitness fads give up within a week anyhow. But if you fancy a go at some simple soup making, you will be delighted to learn this is a great way to boost your immunity during the winter months, and still enjoy some very tasty healthy suppers.
I love this soup, created by Sophie Dahl. Usually I add double the cumin stated for a little more kick, sometimes some dried chili flakes and if I’ve no spinach or coriander the result is still totally delicious. Adapt the amount of lemon juice too to suit your taste buds….

The benefits of celery begin with it being an excellent source of antioxidants and beneficial enzymes, in addition to vitamins and minerals such as vitamin K, vitamin C, potassium, folate and vitamin B6.
Cumin can aid digestion and bloating. Cumin can also help with insomnia as it is a stimulant as well as a relaxant. The spice is rich in iron and contains a considerable amount of vitamin C.
Lemon: Lemons are rich in vitamin C and flavonoids the work against flu and common colds.
Spinach: Low in fat and cholesterol, high in vitamin B6, calcium, niacin and zinc to name a few!
